Requirements to Vote

To register to vote you must:

  • Be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18)
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Not be in jail/prison for a felony conviction
  • Not claim the right to vote elsewhere
  • Not found to be incompetent by a court

Register To Vote

Forms are also available at most government agencies and post offices. Complete the form and mail it to your County Board of Elections. You may also register in person at 7376 State Route 31, Suite 1200, Lyons, NY.

Voter's Rights Concerning Felony Convictions

Re-Register

You need to re-register:

  • If you change your name
  • If you move out of the County
  • If you move within the County
  • If you wish to change your party enrollment

Deadlines

If you want to vote in an election, you must mail or deliver your completed registration form to the Board of Elections no later than 10 days before the election in which you want to vote. Your eligibility to vote will be based on the date you file this form, and the county board will notify you of such.
