Police Reform & Reinvention Collaborative

This is Part 11 of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Community Engagement Information Sharing. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Wayne County Government will be working to address Executive Order Number 203 - New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative through community engagement, planning, listening and learning, and with public comments.

Public Forum Discussion for Police Oversight & Police Reform

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office along with the Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, will host two public forums to talk about community perceptions on policing and engage in a discussion on Police Oversight and Police Reform.

These public forums will be held at the Wayne County Court House, Supervisors Chambers on the second floor, at:
26 Church Street
Lyons, NY 14489

  • Saturday, November 14th 2020 at 9 am
  • Wednesday, November 18th 2020 at 7 pm

Consistent with Governor Cuomo's Executive Order Number 203, the Sheriff's Office intends to conduct these meetings with the public present to review current police force deployments, strategies, policies, procedures and practices and develop a plan to improve such deployments, strategies, policies, procedures, and practices, for the purposes of addressing the particular needs of the communities served by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and promote community engagement to foster trust, fairness, and legitimacy, and to address any racial bias and disproportionate policing of communities of color.

The County of Wayne is looking for input from their residents on this very important matter.

These forums will be conducted in a manner pursuant to Governor Cuomo's Executive Order 202.1 with present public health considerations.
