1895: Emma Biddlecom Sweet was born in Macedon in 1862. Hired by her cousin, Susan B. Anthony as secretary in 1894 (or 1895 through date is unclear), after Anthony's death in 1906, she remained active in the women's suffrage movement until the 19th Amendment was finally ratified in 1920. In 1933, she was appointed to a national committee that protested against the persecution of Jews in Germany. She passed on in 1951, at the ripe old age of 91.
