The federal Supplement Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) Program, previously called Food Stamps, is an income based program intended to supplement the food budget of eligible households. SNAP benefits are provided through an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. This card is used as a debit card at authorized grocery stores. An EBT account is set up for eligible applicants and every month benefits are deposited to the account. Frequently Asked Questions for the Emergency Allotment of SNAP Benefits
Please note, all SNAP recipients ages 16 to 59 are required to work, unless they meet at least one of the conditions allowed for an exemption. To learn more about the work requirements for the SNAP program, please review the SNAP Work Requirements Fact Sheet.

Once you fill out this SNAP Application you can be submit it online. If you are unable to apply online, applications completed in person at our office, or you may request an application be mailed to you by calling (315) 946-4881 and asking for a SNAP application.
An interview with DSS staff is a requirement of the application process. If you choose to come into the agency to apply in person, your interview will be completed without an appointment. If you submit an application online or through the mail, a worker will contact you by phone to complete your interview.
